Damn You Technology - Damn You! Some time ago my girlfriend got herself an ipod, and oh my was she excited when she finally decided to get it. It also started a bit of a discussion between us regarding my never wanting to have an MP3 player. My argument, steadfast as it was, was that they were frivolous pieces of technology. They were nothing more than excuses to shut out the world around you while you were going from point A to point B. Why do that when there is so much interesting stuff going on around you? Then it happened. On my birthday just recently passed, my all too sweet girlfriend presented me with an ipod shuffle. "Well, you said you might want one", she said with all the adorableness in the world. So, I decided I would give it try. That's when it all went to hell. I loved it. No, seriously, I loved it. I began listening to it everywhere I went. On the way to and from work. Going out to lunch. I have to go to the bathroom? Why not rock out while I'm doing it? Stepping out for a smoke? What kind of an idiot wouldn't take tunes with them? It even got to the point where I was suddenly seeing people listening to MP3 players all over the place. I'm in a club now. A club full of cool kids, each of us all in on the secret joke. Yeah, I'm pretty much awesome now. Though, you know, Listening to music in public is totally lame.
