I Shouldn't Talk To Strangers When I'm Drunk

* * *

Random guy talking to his friend: "I actually really liked being in the Army, but I had to quit. All the rules and bullshit was just too much. I can't stand people telling me what to do. That's why I'm a nihilist. I need to be able to do my own thing, you know?"

Me (speaking up from nowhere): "You're actually more of an anarchist than a nihilist. Nihilism refers to the belief that all values are baseless and is most often associated with the concept of destruction for the sake of destruction, whereas anarchy is more of a concept that the moral framework of the individual should not be dictated by a larger group, such as society or government, but rather the individual themselves. Not only that, but pragmatically speaking, nihilism implies a certain level of sociopathic behavior as the ability for an individual to reach adulthood without forming any sense of ethical behavior, or at least a concept of the difference between right and wrong, is pretty far fetched. Even freakish bastards have lines they wouldn't cross. Furthermore, if you take Kant's moral imperative as correct, then you'd have to accept that everybody around you is free to conduct themselves is a similar nihilist fashion at which point you probably would have been stabbed in the head by now. And I'm guessing you'd have a problem with that."

Random guy talking to his friend: "..."

Me: "Uh...Perhaps I'll go sit somewhere else."
